Summer spots get WiFi

A few summer hotspots will become WiFi hotspots as well.
Cablevision will launch wireless Internet service on Thursday in the Village of Sag Harbor and the Long Beach boardwalk. Cablevision launched the service for the Bridgeport-Port Jefferson ferries and terminals last year.
The service is available for free to subscribers of Cablevision's Optimum Online high-speed Internet service. When users launch a browser within the WiFi hotspots, the browser will display a Web page requesting an Optimum ID and password.
The WiFi service becomes available as Cablevision faces competition from Verizon, which offers telephone, Internet and television service, competing with Cablevision's triple play.
Service will be available in Long Beach for the entire length of the boardwalk, from New York Avenue to Neptune Boulevard; and in portions of the Village of Sag Harbor, the Sag Harbor Yacht Club and Beacon Marina.
In Port Jefferson, WiFi is available in the harbor area and the three ships operated by the Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Steamboat Co.; and in the ferry terminal in Bridgeport, Conn.
